Burning the Body

Vapors of time stream azure blue
In painted water.

In the fiery gold void
where we spread our blankets
and drew knives,
the kitchen light still simmers
sustained by our febrile vibrations.

The brocaded bedroom linens,
the tires on our cars,
the in between spaces
between words,
the doll you made from old parts,
a broken corkscrew,
the summer leaf shadows
under the neighbors trees,
the grass, the stars,
all testify
to the divine moistness
of our discontent.
