Exit- A Fifty Word Mini Saga

His front door was all that separated Ted now from the police. He fired twice through the door, low and to the side, kicked it open and raised his rifle. The trees are starting to leaf out, he thought in the second before everything slowed to a blurry, surreal crawl.

Today’s Fifty Word Mini-Saga

There once was a boy who was born without arms.

“Why me?” he asked anyone who would listen.

One day he fell off a bridge into the river.  Kicking, spitting and crying piteously for help, he asked one last time, “why me?”

Then he felt the bottom and stood up.

The Bedside

The king lay dying. He sent for his son who came and knelt at the old man’s bedside.

“There is something you must know,” said the King. “I am not your father. I killed your father by accident in battle. “

“I know,” said the boy, drawing his bone-handle hunting knife.
